FTP COMMANDER
Use this kind of program to upload and download programs from your web-site, or to simply "post" files (usually picture files) on a web-hosting site (even if you don't have an actual website out there). One you put in your correct web host's address, it's fairly automatic: much like having two Window's Explorer's windows open on your desktop: one is of your hard-drive, the other of that "other" hard-drive (the server) out there on the web. You can send files back and forth with ease.

Doteasy web-hosting
It came up in the computer club that there is an occasional need for an inexpensive, (even free?) hosting "out there on the web someplace" spot to store pictures, post a website, etc. While a Blogger is a great (and entirely free) place to post text, if you want to place links to pictures, etc. you need another site. This second site doesn't need to have a fully-developed web page, etc. Some folks don't like all the bother this requires. (Or fees, if you pay somebody else to do the labor).
But you can place pictures out there, and link to them via hot links in your blogsite or emails. People can see what you want 'em to see by doing this. So, one place where you can get some of this web space is on the link above.
You'll need a suitable program for "sending your pictures" to this spot, though. Any "FTP" program fills the bill.

ULead's PhotoExplorer v 8
Thanks to Bob B, our computer club was introduced to a nice piece of software. While I'm a die-hard "ThumbsPlus" advocate (Cerious, Inc software, link somewhere below), Bob has found another program which does many if not most of the same things (albeit in slightly different ways). The great plus of this ULead offering is that it is much less expensive. 15 days free trial period by simply downloading, and if you like it, $30 to register. A great bargain for any digital photographer.

I LOVE "Clipmate" (see link down below) and find it absolutely indispensible for everyday use in a 100 different ways. However, it's not a freebie---if you like it after the 30 day free trial, you must purchase for about $30.
If you want a "free" version of something which promises to do some of the same things, however, go here:

I'm always on the lookout for PhotoShop "Plug-Ins"---those marvelous little additions to PhotoShop (or any program---there are many---which accept "photoshop compatible plug-ins.") This site has links to many free plug-ins and is an interesting site in its own right.

"Wi-Fi" is with us, and probably will dominate Internet high-speed access in the very near future. For a series of helpful articles on how to set up to receive wi-fi on your own computer, I found these sites. Click on the link below.

Nobody seems to know the bright person who wrote this code, but it's pretty cool. Try it out by clicking on this link. Once it appears on your screen, drag it around with your mouse!
